A traditional TV wall mount is a device that is used to securely attach a television to a wall either stationary or on some form of swivel. It generally consists of a bracket that is attached to the back of the TV, and a mounting plate that is attached to the wall.
To install a traditional TV wall mount on a drywall, you will need first-hand experience with handyman work. Unfortunately, most of us never used a drill, nor how to use it properly, and more specifically on a drywall. But if you are experienced with doing some handyman work you would have to follow these steps:
Choose the right mount for your TV. Make sure that the mount is designed to hold the weight and size of your TV.
Choose the location for the mount. Consider the height of the TV, the distance from the viewing area, and the location of outlets and cables.
Locate the wall studs. Use a stud finder to locate the wall studs behind the drywall. The mount will need to be attached to these studs to support the weight of the TV.
Assemble the mount. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to assemble the mount.
Install the mounting plate. Hold the mounting plate against the wall, and use a level to make sure it is straight.
Drill pilot holes. Use a drill and a 1/8-inch bit to drill pilot holes at the marked locations.
Attach the mounting plate to the wall.
Attach the bracket to the TV.
Hang the TV on the mount.
A recent article on the Bob Villa website pointed out:
In general, customers can expect to pay between $15 and $120 to mount a TV that measures 31 inches or less and up to $500 for a 55-inch TV wall mount, but TVs that exceed 70 inches can cost $600 or more to mount.
No wonder why most of us use a handyman, and even if you find a good one, you should expect to pay that kind of money! Don’t take our word for it, here are some customer testimonials:
Works EXACTLY as described!
I saw the ad for this on TikTok of all places and I had a ton of skepticism that this would actually work. The TV I used it on is an 85" Sony Bravia TV. From unboxing to hanging on the wall took less than 20 minutes. The TV looks AMAZING!!! It has been almost a month since I hung it and it is still just as secure as the day I installed it. I am incredibly satisfied.

Got it for Xmas
I actually works! This product is WAY different from the others you see on the market. I saw them on both tiktok and facebook for weeks, so I figured okay lets buy it. I have a 65 inch and 70 inch and they worked great on both of them! YAY! Also, the free mystery gift that came with the bundle is SUPER cute. :)

So first, some basic knowledge about Toenailing, what is it exactly?
Toenailing is the process of driving a nail at a 45-degree angle to fasten two pieces of wood or drywall together, typically with their grains perpendicular. The nails go in at a 45 degree angle anchoring to the wall. This creates pressure 90 degrees to the ground. The nails will NEVER move and nothing will happen to the drywall. The physics behind the toenail concept is based on the principle of tension and force. On drywall, this concept was used to hang mirrors or pictures up to a certain weight, definitely not over 100 pounds.
For example: Take a wall, try to hang your body from the top of the wall with your fingers at a 180 degree angle (so going perfectly horizontally) you would fall right down.
Now…. Do the same thing, and grip the wall making your fingers curve at a 45 degree angle anchoring to the wall. You won’t fall, and nothing will happen to the wall.
The toenail is inserted into the drywall at a downward, 45 degree angle creating tension on the drywall. The secret of HangSmart TV isn’t just the concept of toenailing. It’s a combination of two additional factors:
HangSmart TV has a patented design utilizing an elastic, secure mount. The wall mount uses four nails on each side (total of eight) to create an anchor that distributes the weight evenly and downward at a 90-degree angle. The two mounts are attached to the elastic mount, allowing the TV to sit securely onto the wall.
After selling this product for 5 years, we have experienced zero failures with HangSmart TV, and our customers are consistently impressed by its simplicity, ease of use, and elegant design.
“Our goal is to drive innovation into an industry that is fairly outdated. You just cannot negate science and math when those variables are applied to make a product work. We want to give every person the ability to do the things they want to do around the house, completely on their own, and without the use of a handyman. All of our products are DIY focused with the consumer in mind."
